The first grade students at St. Paul, Fenton have been working hard on their fluency while reading. They have been practicing sight words so they are able to read them more automatically as well as working on using the proper pausing at punctuation as well as adding expression where there are exclamation points or bold print and changing voice at question marks. Recently we read the classic tale of The Gingerbread Man. The students were so excited to audio record the play at the end of the book and listen to how they sound reading. This was such a good resource for them to hear how they actually sound reading. They were a bit surprised at how they sounded when listening back. These recordings will definitely be added in as a resource to master our fluency. It was so much fun!
