The students in Ms. McLeod’s Third Grade Title Reading Class at St. Patrick’s Catholic School have been working hard reading and writing this year. Recently, the students read the story, Pen Pals. A classmate of the students just moved, so the students each wrote him a letter.

Ms. McLeod mailed the letters. The students are hoping to get a letter back from their friend too. Since they were writing letters, the teacher taught a quick unit of letter writing. The students learned the correct form for a letter, the different sections of a letter, and the placement of each section in a letter.

The students also learned how to address an envelope with the address of the recipient as well as the return address (They also learned where the stamp belongs and that the paid stamp pays for the letter to be sent. The students also made a giant copy of their letter. Those copies are attached. The students had fun with this unit.
