Ms. Kamps’ 3rd graders at Sacred Heart recently read two nonfiction, humorous texts entitled The Slackers and Couch Potato. In these stories, the funny antics of the characters are described using idioms. We then discussed and studied the use of figurative language by authors in a text, specifically idioms. The students then brainstormed several idioms and picked one of their favorites to illustrate. They show both the literal and figurative meaning of the idiom. They hope you enjoy reading them as much as they did in creating them! Excellent work 3rd graders.
