Ms. Kamps’ 3rd graders at Our Lady of Guadalupe read, “Bear’s Birthday and Dolphins.” During their reading, the students looked for chunks, or parts of words that they knew, to solve any unknown words in the story. The students then used the same strategy, applying known word parts, to write sentences about the stories. They also practiced using correct sentence format including punctuation, spacing, and rereading their writing to make sure they included all the intended words and their writing made sense to the reader. Finally, they edited their peers’ sentences to ensure it was ready for publication. Enjoy their thoughtful writings and illustrations!
