The 1st Graders at Holy Cross School in KC read the book “Our Garden” by Sarah Robinson. The book is about a boy growing a garden with his dad. Students read about all the different fruits and vegetables that were grown in the garden. At the end of the book there was a surprise. Some bunnies decided they wanted to be in the garden, too. For the activity, students had to piece together the cut-out words in the correct order to make a sentence. This seemed to be challenging for some students. They needed to know how a sentence starts (an uppercase letter) and how it ends (a period). Once the words were placed in the correct order, students were able to glue them down. After gluing, students illustrated their sentences.
