The First-Grade students at St. Peter’s School in Kansas City have been working hard on sight words. After reading the book Our Garden from the Green LLI System, students were given words to put in order. The students used their knowledge of sentence structure to place words in the correct order. For example, “We” starts with a capital letter, so it went first. Next, the students knew that “garden.” went last because it was followed by a period. The students completed the sentence by using the sight words they had learned to create a meaningful sentence. Finally, they drew a picture to match the completed sentence.
